Chester County continued to report the lowest unemployment rate in the five-county Philadelphia region, a report from Pennsylvania's Department of Labor and Industry said. Seasonally adjusted, Chester County's November unemployment rate was 3.3 percent, down from 3.6 percent in November 2005. Philadelphia County, which recorded the highest rate, also saw a decline from 6.8 percent in November 2005 to 6.4 percent in November 2006. The November unemployment rates for other area counties were 4.3 percent in Delaware County, 3.6 percent in Montgomery County, and 3.9 percent in Bucks County, all down from November 2005. However, the unemployment rate increased in all five counties between October and November 2006. The unemployment rate for the Philadelphia metropolitan area, which includes southern New Jersey and parts of Delaware and Maryland, was 4.6 percent, down from 4.9 percent in November 2004, but up from 4.4 percent in October 2005.- Jane M.
